The Museum provides opportunities for teachers who are interested in learning more about incorporating Jewish heritage and lessons from the Holocaust into their curriculum, using object based education. In addition to Professional Development events scheduled at the Museum, staff development workshops can be arranged for your school or region.

This course introduces teachers to the scholarship about the impact of WWII and the Nazi genocide on Jewish lives and communities. Authentic artifacts and Holocaust survivor testimony are centerpieces of daily coursework. Through their work in this course, teachers will gain broad knowledge of the history of the Holocaust. The course strongly emphasizes inquiry-based learning and setting instructional outcomes while it incorporates fundamental history study, memoir and historical fiction, and research skills. Presenters include Museum staff, Holocaust survivors, and leading scholars.
This course is approved for 3P-credits by the NYC Department of Education ASPDP and credit toward the NYS PD 175 hour requirement to maintain certification.
